I’m a registered counsellor in Victoria, Australia. I handle your personal and health information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic).
What I collect: your contact and emergency contact details, your date of birth, your health information, session notes, and appointment and payment records. I usually collect this directly from you. With your consent, I may also receive information from a health provider or someone who has referred you.
Why I collect it: to respond to your enquiry, provide counselling, keep accurate records, manage appointments and payments, respond to safety concerns, and meet my legal and professional obligations.
Who may see it: I don’t sell your information. I’ll only share it with your consent, or where the law requires or allows it, such as when there’s a serious risk of harm, suspected abuse or neglect, or a court order. I use third-party providers for bookings, practice management and this website. These providers may store or access information outside Australia, including in the United States.
How I protect it: I take reasonable steps to keep your information secure, and I keep records only for as long as the law and my professional obligations require. Email, SMS and website forms can’t be guaranteed to be fully secure, so please keep those messages brief.
This website: the site may use cookies and analytics to show general information, such as visitor numbers and the pages people view. You can usually control cookies through your browser settings.
Your rights: you can ask to see or correct the information I hold about you and to enquire anonymously or under another name. I may need your identifying details before providing counselling.
Questions or complaints: please contact me first at rebekahk@kmentors.com. If you’re not satisfied with the outcome, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the Health Complaints Commissioner, Victoria.
